My Process

    Curiosity + Inquiry

    You bring a question, an impulse, or a situation. I bring an embodied way of seeing that helps surface what’s really asking to be explored.

    Through one or two initial visioning sessions, we will explore possibilities. Rather than starting with a predetermined outcome, we allow the direction of the work to emerge through shared inquiry.

    Don’t worry if this is not a familiar mode of operation for you. I will guide you!

    Shaping the Container

    Trust the process. As clarity begins to form, we identify the shape the work wants to take. This may lead to a participatory experience, language analysis, leadership activation, site-responsive work, or a film.

    At this stage, we define scope, timeline, and budget, and I formalize the container through a clear agreement.

    This is where the process becomes more structured and the work starts to feel more tangible.

    Making + Emergence

    Finally, the work comes into being through iterative creation, collaboration, and responsiveness.

    Inevitably, what emerges carries a life of its own, and insights, connections, or resonances are revealed beyond what was initially imagined.

Scintilla Centre

Having an ideas-based business, I hired Emily at a stage of needing to reimagine what my work might look like.  I was feeling tired, uninspired and disconnected from work that used to light me up.  To say she helped would be an understatement.  As a result of working together, I was able to deepen my thinking, worldbuild how people encounter and experience my work, and imagine what architecture might support it - all while falling in love with my work again. 

I’d spent a long time looking for the kind of support Emily offered - and while there’s an abundance of ‘business’ advice and teachings out there, there aren’t so many places that help you engage creatively with problems you may be facing, or how to bring an idea to life, or help you develop your craft - all of which Emily does.  

She is able to hold huge amounts of vulnerability, create a really safe creative environment for ideas (even terrible ones!), to think about the journey and experience of those who engage with my work, to keep the bigger picture in sight, to hold anchor when I’d go off on tangents, and perhaps most brilliantly, tease out new directions and ideas from the least likely places.
